Bishop Melvin Futrell

Bishop Melvin Futrell is the founder and overseer of Proceeding Word Church, founded in June 2005 in the beautiful city of Virginia Beach, Virginia. For many people in the Hampton Roads area, PWC is a source of inspiration, education, and salvation. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he was licensed as a minister of the gospel in 2002 and ordained and installed as Pastor in 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology, a Master of Biblical Studies, and a Doctorate of Theology from North Carolina College of Theology, which he received in August of 2010. Bishop Futrell has been married to the love of his life, Pastor Tammy Futrell, for over 31 years and is the proud father of four girls and two boys. They are united in their desire to see the Kingdom advance.

Pastor Tammy Furtrell, a native of Norfolk, VA, was ordained as a minister in 2005 and co-founded Proceeding Word Church with her husband, Bishop Melvin Furtrell.

As a result of heart for women, Pastor Tammy established "Daughters of Abigail," a conference where women can break their silence.

Being a woman of many passions, in 2021, Pastor Futrell became a certified make-up artist and instructor. She is the CEO of De Beauty Spot located in Chesapeake, VA. She has been married to Bishop Melvin Futrell for 32 years. Together, they have six children, and three wonderful sons-in-law.
